Web Design

I have been desiging and building websites for almost 20 years, and have always kept abreast of the latest standards and tools. All my sites are hand-coded, cross-browser compliant, and adhere to the principles of information architecture, usability, and good screen design.

I am familiar with HTML5 and CSS3, and am able to use a variety of scripting languages to build an interactive experience. Among these are: PHP, Perl, Python, JavaScript and SQL (MySQL).

My dynamic, data-driven web applications have included:

• A statistics graphing tool to visually present software bug histories and map results to SCRUM burndown and performance KPIs — data drawn from a bugzilla database
• A graduate attributes mapping tool rolled out across a university for academics to map the teaching of generic skills across their programmes — reports dynamically delivered in Word format
• A records database with a generic data model and a flexible user-configurable web interface via metadata tags
• A research centre's website with a complete content management system backend to allow research staff to update the site themselves

In addition to web design I have experience with web content editing, content control and content management systems.
